August 2009

Good day to all,

July was a good month; rain stayed away for the Golf tournaments, we had some nice F&B revenues, and in general things were better than expected.

August is full of activities; the Joan Chronister Golf Tournament and two great dinners, the Fish Fry on August 15th and the Steak Blowout on August 29th, these two meals have been priced just to say thank you to all the members, and they are an outstanding value.

It has been two years since I wrote my original newsletter, so I thought that I will reprint some excerpts from it and see where we are today…..

“I am so overcome by the gracious welcome and encouragement that I have received from everyone that I have had the pleasure to meet. If I have not had the opportunity to shake your hand, please look me up and I will be most glad to meet you.

You have a wonderful setting here at the Searcy Country Club, and I feel honored to have the opportunity to guide the Club and fulfill all the expectations that you have for it.

My promise to you is that I will utilize all of my experience and expertise in the hospitality industry to make our Club the best that it can be.

“I can not do this alone; I will need your support, your comments and your suggestions, after all this is your Club, and I am just the instrument to make it the way that you want it to be.”

Nothing has changed much, I still think that this is a wonderful place to be and I still need your support and suggestions to get the job done

“I promise that I will bring excitement to our Club; we will have Wine Dinners, Wine Tastings and Seminars, Wine Pairings Classes, Cigars Seminars and Cooking Demonstrations, if you are planning a gathering at your home and need assistance in the planning of your menu, just call me, I am at your disposal.”

I think that our Wine Dinners and Wine Classes have been a success, I am still working in that elusive Cigar Dinner and I feel that since our Culinary staff is ready we will have some cooking demonstrations in the Fall

“I have been very busy getting the infrastructure of the Club on an even keel, it is very difficult to operate if the staff does not have the proper tools to get the job done, we are blessed to have very dedicated staff members, their sole endeavor is to provide excellent service to you, my job is to get them the tools to do just so.”

Thanks to the cooperation of the Board, out Staff have all the tools that they need to do their jobs. We have affected several major and minor repairs, and we feel that the Club looks neat, clean and in very good condition. We are still working on the air conditioning system, especially in the Bar, and we will have it resolved shortly.

“I am always available to you, if I am not at the Club, my cell number is 314-757-1911, call me at any time that you need to share your ideas, comments or suggestions.

My personal commitment to the Board is that I will be here at least for the next 15 years, so let’s make it a good, enjoyable, long lasting, mutually beneficial relationship, and make the Club the wonderful place that it should be.”

Amen!
